Position: Associate Clubhouse Director
Location: 321 East 111th St. New York, NY 10029
Salary Range: $90,000 • $120,000 Annually
Hours: 35 hours per week

Job Summary
The Associate Clubhouse Director will be responsible for the development, management, and evaluation of all Clubhouse programs and departments. They will work in partnership with the Managing Director of Programs and Clubhouse Director to create curriculum, programmatic initiatives, and professional development that are culturally responsive and represent the mission of The Boys• Club as an organization. They will work with the Clubhouse Director to create an effective coaching and mentoring process for staff, providing feedback and evaluation/reviews. Collaborate with Clubhouse Director to make sure all state and city licenses are managed that the clubhouse is in compliance.
Responsibilities
• Work closely with all other Department Heads ensuring that BCNY's mission is being realized in each program area.
• Manage all instructional aspects of age-specific programs and activities for all members, including life skills, recreational, character development, and healthy living. This includes assisting with planning, organizing, ensuring successful implementation, data collection and monitoring.
• Work with Managing Director of Programs to create data evaluation tools and process for BCNY programming.
• Proactively monitor programs, delivery and progress to maintain or improve quality, address issues and employ recommendations.
• Maintains the program area to foster physical and emotional safety, encourage creativity, and meet member needs.
• Recruit and retain membership through programs and workshops, communicating with parents as necessary.
• Builds strong relationships with members and families and work to ensure that individual needs (academic, emotional, social, physical) are met through the appropriate connection or coordination of programs and services. Collaborate with colleagues and other departments as needed.
• Work with Clubhouse Director and senior staff to establish and enforce behavioral expectations and procedures for BCNY members.
• Work with all staff to organize select special events in the Clubhouse and monitor staff and member participation and engagement
• Work with Operation Manager to maintain SAAC certification and compliance
• Work with Clubhouse Director to complete and file appropriate compliance reports and contracts with regulatory agencies including School Age Child Care, the Department of Health and Department of Labor.
• Conduct periodic internal reviews, identify compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation and put a plan in place to resolve issues and ensure 100% compliance.
• Provide community outreach and represent BCNY at external events
• Participate in area and regional conferences that focus on youth development relative to the educational needs of the BCNY membership.
• Stay current with federal, state and local educational issues, public school standards and specific NYC School District requirements and procedures.
• Oversee the staffing and management of all full-time instructional staff and volunteers, including staff recruitment, hiring, onboarding, evaluating performance, and coaching
• Oversee staff schedules, ensuring adequate coverage and providing coverage as needed
• Work with Clubhouse Director, Managing Director of Programs & Other Associate Clubhouse Director to implement training for all full-time, part-time staff, and active core group of volunteers.
• Create a positive work atmosphere that fosters teamwork and a constructive exchange of ideas
• Ensure that all staff members adhere to behavior, discipline, and safety policies
• Participate in all Clubhouse events including staff meetings, special events, and parent meetings
• Demonstrate knowledge of the mission of The Boys• Club of New York and employ that to build a sound foundation in all department programs and activities.
• Maintain high expectations for staff and ensure compliance.
• Manages the department effectively and within budget. Responsible for purchasing materials, supplies, and equipment designed to meet member needs.
• Communicates clearly with administration, supervisors, peers, and direct reports.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in related field required; Master's degree strongly preferred or relevant experience
• Minimum 3-5 years senior management experience
• Experience successfully supervising staff
• Experience working with boys and young men
• Experience overseeing budgets and finances
• Experience working with parents, alumni and community groups
• Experience creating and managing community partnerships
• Excellent supervision, management and leadership experience, including knowledge of mentoring, evaluating and inspiring staff
• A sound understanding of the social and cultural issues facing urban youth and families
