This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Assistant Vice President, Transportation Architect for our San Francisco or Los Angeles, CA offices.

Be involved in projects with our California Transportation Facilities Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

Your Impact
  • Deliver and support small, mid-size, large-scale and mega transit Architecture projects.
  • Develop and coordinate drawings/graphics, schedules, specifications and other contract documents.
  • Proficiently work with AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp and all Microsoft Office software (ex. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access etc.)
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of Concept, Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents.
  • Provide quality control reviews and quality assurance.
  • Develop approach(s) to handle and complete complex and demanding assignments, which require independent application of specialized professional skills, coordination with other technical disciplines, or both.
  • Manage and direct projects' architectural group staff and assist in confirming project budgets are maintained, and financial goals achieved.
  • Monitor and mentor junior staff in their professional development.
  • Responsible for the technical quality and coordination of Architectural work and conformance with the Project Implementation Plan/Project Quality Control Plan (PIP/PQCP).
  • Assist with business development and support project presentations to clients, public and private stakeholders, and public agencies.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
  • 10+ years of relevant post education experience in learned discipline.
  • Essential professional licensure/certification in California.
  • Highly proficient with architectural principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
  • Proficient with extensive experience in building planning, drawing standards, design, and program/construction management; including project involvement in a variety of restorative and new design.
  • Proficient with making technical computations and calculations involving the application of architectural principles, understanding plans and specifications, and making factual comparisons and illustrations to the appropriate regulations.
  • Relevant transit project experience in stations or maintenance facilities for rail and buses.
  • Proficient in building code, zoning, planning regulations and other standards (including accessibility and CalGreen).
  • Proficient with technical writing, office automation, discipline-specific design software (i.e., AutoCAD, REVIT, SketchUp and all Microsoft Office software), technology, math principles, graphics, spreadsheets, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • San Franciso based
  • 10+ years, applicable experience post-licensure
  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • Familiarity with NFPA 130
  • LEED AP (Accredited Professional)
  • An ability and / or interest in writing and coordinating specifications; experience with SpecLink and / or MasterSpec
  • Familiarity with MicroStation
  • Functioning Experience with Adobe creative suite, Lumion, Twinmotion, and/or Enscape

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $170,000 - $213,000

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
