The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Nursing Workforce and Resource Strategy serves as the corporate nursing leader responsible for enterprise nursing workforce planning, care model design, and resource stewardship across the system. In partnership with Human Resources and nursing leadership, this role develops and advances strategies that strengthen recruitment, retention, workforce sustainability, labor readiness, and financial stewardship in alignment with organizational goals.

As Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Nursing Workforce and Resource Strategy,a typical day might include:
  • Partnering with the System Chief Nurse Executive, Human Resources, Finance, and nursing leaders to develop and execute enterprise workforce strategies that strengthen recruitment, retention, staffing sustainability, and operational performance across the health system
  • Analyzing workforce trends, staffing analytics, productivity metrics, and labor market insights to identify opportunities for improvement and provide data-driven recommendations that optimize nursing resources and support safe, high-quality patient care
  • Collaborating with nursing and operational leaders to design and implement innovative care delivery models, workforce deployment strategies, scheduling approaches, and staffing solutions that address the evolving needs of healthcare delivery
  • Advising executive leadership on nursing labor strategy, including contract negotiations, workforce risk mitigation, labor readiness planning, and the operational and financial implications of regulatory and legislative changes
  • Partnering with Finance, Legal, Human Resources, and site leaders to evaluate resource allocation, productivity performance, and workforce investments while developing strategies that balance quality care delivery with financial stewardship
  • Leading enterprise initiatives focused on the future of nursing by advancing workforce innovation, standardizing workforce management practices, and creating sustainable solutions that support the long-term success of the nursing workforce

To be considered for this opportunity, you must possess a master's degree in a related field and maintain an active New Jersey nursing license. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated leadership experience (at least 5 years) within professional organizations, committees, councils, or healthcare leadership environments, with a proven ability to influence strategy and drive collaboration across diverse stakeholders. Successful candidates will have experience developing workforce strategies, analyzing operational and staffing data, and partnering with nursing, Human Resources, Finance, Legal, and operational leaders to address complex workforce challenges. The ability to translate workforce insights into actionable recommendations is essential. Board certification in a nursing specialty is strongly preferred.
