Position Summary

The University at Buffalo seeks a richly experienced, highly accomplished and dynamic individual to serve as its next Assistant Vice President for Advancement, Principal and Strategic Philanthropy.The ideal candidate should be able to expertly help lead UB's fundraising efforts and help foster the culture of philanthropy that is critical to enhancing the university's mission of excellence.

This position is a member of the Vice President's executive and leadership teams, and is responsible for working closely with the central fundraising staff, schools, deans, faculties, and other university units in articulating and implementing plans, goals, and activities related to fund-development.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, advancement, or a related field, including demonstrated success securing six and seven figure gifts.
• Demonstrated success managing high-capacity donor portfolios and closing complex, multi-year philanthropic commitments.
• Experience building fundraising strategies, programs, or initiatives within a complex organization; higher education, healthcare, or large nonprofit experience preferred.
• Proven ability to partner effectively with senior leaders, faculty, volunteers, and other stakeholders to advance institutional priorities.
• Experience supervising, coaching, or coordinating high-performing teams, with a collaborative and results-oriented leadership style.
• Strong knowledge of moves management, pipeline strategy, CRM systems, and data-informed decision-making.
• Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills, with sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to manage competing priorities; ability to travel up to 50% and work evenings and occasional weekends as needed.

Salary Range
$160,000 - $170,000

The salary range reflects our good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible compensation at the time of posting, the role and associated responsibilities, and the experience, education, and training of the selected candidate.
