Assistant Teaching Professor and Director of Academic SuccessThe University of Massachusetts School of Law - Dartmouth invites applications for the position of Assistant Teaching Professor and Director of Academic Success. The Director collaborates in the design, direction, and implementation of all aspects of the Law School's Academic Success program in order to promote law student retention, successful completion of law school, and Bar exam passage.
Responsibilities will include: designing, implementing, and managing the Academic Success Program, including teaching academic success courses to first-year and upper-level students; partnering with the Director of Bar Success and the Director of Teaching and Learning Methods to ensure and promote consistent academic assistance from Orientation through licensure; planning, scheduling, and coordinating Orientation with the Dean of Students; administering the Law Learning Center; hiring and supervising peer tutors; meeting with and advising students in academic jeopardy; hosting optional skills workshops; coordinating with the Dean of Students on professional development activities; managing the program budget; in collaboration with the Director of Bar Success, managing MPRE preparation; collecting, analyzing, and reporting data regarding programmatic goals and outcomes; participating in faculty governance, committee service, and institutional initiatives consistent with faculty status; attending professional trainings and conferences on best practices to promote student academic success; and performing other duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will serve as Director of Academic Success and hold the rank of Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor, depending on experience. Assistant Teaching Professors are eligible for promotion to Associate and Full Teaching Professor and may earn continuous appointment. The position will begin in January 2027. Applicants must be available to teach in the day and evening divisions as needed.
Minimum qualifications: Applicants must have a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school; strong academic credentials; at least two years of experience in law practice or teaching; and prior experience teaching either academic success or bar preparation.
Preferred qualifications: Experience with curriculum design, assessment, and data collection.

SALARY: - Assistant Teaching Rank - $75,000-$88,000
