This Opportunity

WSP is currently searching for an Assistant Survey Project Manager to join our Geomatics Department in the New York Metro Region with options to work out of our Valhalla, NY and/or Lawrenceville, NJ offices. Be a part of a growing group of survey professionals working on a wide variety of internal and external projects and help our clients meet their objectives and solve their challenges.

Your Impact

Job Responsibilities:
  • This is a full-time position performing survey office work in a supporting management role under the guidance of the senior management team helping oversee the completion of projects from start to finish and providing guidance to Field Staff, Survey Technicians, and CAD Drafters.
  • Candidates will work with staff from one or both of our survey teams out of our Valhalla NY or Lawrenceville NJ office.
  • Candidates will assist in overseeing the production of survey plans and other deliverables, assist with scheduling and setting up field crews, assist in updating project tracking software, perform initial QA/QC reviews of work performed by Survey Technicians and CAD drafters, prepare survey reports, process and review survey data, make boundary placement determinations and adjustments to survey control with the guidance and approval by a PLS, and assist in mentoring and educating new staff.
  • Candidates can expect to work on a wide variety of survey projects in different sectors such as transportation, environmental, commercial, industrial, institutional, and energy projects.
  • Candidates will utilize a variety of drafting programs, survey data processing programs, project tracking programs, Microsoft office products, and other types of software on a daily basis.
  • Candidates will interact with clients by email, phone, or during meetings on a regular basis and need to represent WSP in a positive and professional manner.
  • Candidates may be asked to perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.


Who You Are

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Geomatics (Land Surveying Related Fields) with 3 to 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree with 4-6 years of relevant experience, or 6+ years of land surveying experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Prior experience in both the field and office performing a variety of different types of survey work.
  • Posses experience or training in the use of drafting programs and survey data processing programs
  • Prior experience with performing boundary research, compilations, and determinations,
  • Prior experience processing and adjusting survey control,
  • Possess a willingness to both learn and teach others,
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and must be detail oriented, organized and responsive,
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, or leading a team to complete office tasks related to land surveying.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and be willing to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree is a plus.
  • Possess LSIT or CST certifications with the goal of becoming a PLS
  • Possess knowledge or training in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microstation InRoads, Leica Infinity, and Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Possess survey experience in both the field and office performing a variety of different types of survey work is a plus, especially in the greater New York City area and with the various public agencies that operate in this region.

Compensation: Expected Salary (all locations): $75,600 - $129,800

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and may offer additional benefits and compensation, depending on circumstances and the type of work being performed not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
