Job Responsibilities

This position works directly with thetechnicians in the shop, providing support with technical questions and mentoring newtechnicians. The Assistant Service Manager reports to the Service Manager and is responsible for the following:
  • Assist the Service Manager with annual service programs duties, including quoting, and promotion
  • Coach new technicians and apprentices with work orders assigned to them
  • Support new technicians and apprentices with their technical, repair, and diagnostic questions
  • Improve technician efficiencies by keeping technicians on tasks and coaching when needed
  • Direct and assist in the diagnosis of machine problems of technicians and apprentices
  • Contact customers to update with any ongoing repair status and cost estimates
  • Provide labour estimates for new job quotes
  • Inform the Service Manager of in-house technician training needs
  • Organize shop tools and properly catalogue them for quick location
  • Maintain shop cleanliness and ensure technicians are keeping their work area tidy
  • Perform quality control checks on units before returning to customers
  • Other duties as assigned, including health and safety responsibilities

Skills and Qualifications
  • Holds a Journeymen license in 310T, 310S, or 425A
  • 5+ years of experience performing service repairs; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics
  • Experience leading a department and working in a team environment
  • Understanding of the mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in equipment
  • Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposes
  • Must be a team player with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and employees
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with computer and software systems.
  • Flexibility to work scheduled and extended hours.

Wage Range
  • $80,000 - $90,000 per year
  • Placement within the wage range is based on skills, experience and qualifications
  • Applicants with more or less experience and qualifications may be place outside the wage range
