This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full Time Assistant Resident Engineer for our Antioch, California office. Be involved in projects with our PMCM Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges. The position can be located within the San Francisco Bay Area, greater Sacramento area, or the Central Valley. WSP has offices in Antioch, Walnut Creek, San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, Roseville, and Stockton. Projects may span multiple disciplines, such as roadway/highway and transit/rail construction.

Your Impact
  • Must be knowledgeable of various client construction specifications and contract management.
  • Supervise, develop and train field staff and other construction support staff assigned to a project.
  • Supervise and conduct the inspection and review of work in accordance with applicable codes and standards included in the project drawings and specifications
  • Responsible for field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, surveying, and quality control on one large or several small construction projects.
  • Verify and review project documentation for acceptance including pay applications, change orders, submittals, shop drawings, cost reduction proposals, traffic control modifications, and others.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the client, project team, and contractors.
  • Manage the construction management team, including sub-consultants.
  • Review and make recommendations for contractors' project schedules and non-conforming work
  • Attends and may lead construction meetings with client and contractors
  • Meeting with prospective clients to learn about future CM pursuit opportunities
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering-related field experience or equivalent
  • A minimum of 10 years of directly relevant experience, including Resident Engineer or related roles (or equivalent working knowledge/experience)
  • A working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials (e.g. Caltrans)
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret contract documents
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
  • Valid drivers' license

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in local municipalities and/or Caltrans
  • Background in construction management, architecture, or engineering fields.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) / Licensed Civil Engineer in the State of California.
  • Familiarity with e-Builder, MS Office , MS Project and other PC software used on design and construction projects
  • Bridge and highway construction inspection experience

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $138,100 - $205,040

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
