Responsibilities

Who We Are:

SwRI's Defense & Intelligence Solutions Division offers some of the most dynamic and engaging environments for combining hardware, software, design, and data engineering to create advanced capabilities and products for the specialized needs of the Department of Defense, military, and Intelligence Community. The Software Engineering Department's Mission is to provide advanced information collection, exploitation, networking, and data management software solutions for a variety of customers by architecting, delivering, and supporting high quality software solutions and systems. This position has an alternate location of Hanover, MD.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Through high quality and proactive collaboration, communication, and organizational skills, support the program manager in project execution.
  • Interface and engage with clients and multi-disciplinary project teams and actively participate in all aspects of the project life cycle including customer solicitation and business development, proposal preparation with a focus on cost and schedule aspects.
  • Under the direction of the Program Manager; apply your functional and/or program management experience to assist and successfully promote and lead technical projects of moderate scope and complexity involving multi-disciplinary team
  • Create or review technical and contractual documentation such as status reports, requirements and design documentation, project schedules, gitlab issue reviews, risk registries, and financial reports.
  • Working directly with the technical teams on project execution, creating and communicating the project plans and schedules, and helping to load balance tasks across resources.


Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Routinely communicate with project teams under your responsibility and maintain a view of project progress and present at periodic management reviews.
  • Effectively lead and take notes during meetings, to include action capture and tracking.
  • Manage project execution, schedule, cost, and scope.
  • Proactively and effectively identify risks, and communicate the risks to both internal and external stakeholders as required.
  • Ensure projects are in compliance with the division and the departments company quality programs, to include participation in CMMI Audits.
  • Work with the Divisions tools to meet those quality tools, such as project online, data repositories, etc.
  • Support the creation of monthly and weekly status reports for the customer and internal management.
  • Track and highlight schedule and scope concerns for the project.
  • Assist in the tracking and the creation of financial contractual reports and other contractual deliverables.
  • Daily use of Agile methodologies to support project execution.
  • Routine verbal and written communication, to include giving presentations with project teams, internal and external stakeholders on the projects status, concerns, and successes.


Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Degrees in Business or related fields may be considered with 6 years of directly related experience managing teams of engineers related to software development.
  • PMP and active TS/SCI with full scope polygraph highly desired.
  • 6 years: Functional and/or program management experience with demonstrated capability to successfully promote and lead technical projects of moderate scope and complexity involving multi-disciplinary teams.
  • 6 years: Experience with software development projects and adhering to software quality systems and software configuration management and build tools, such as Gitlab, TeamCity. Understanding of the full software lifecycle.
  • 6 years: Effective communicator both verbally and in writing, with the ability to pick out key elements of information and effectively take notes and lead meetings. Intermediate or higher level of competency in utilizing project online and tools, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • PMP is highly desired. Experience writing proposals and basis of estimates highly desired. Highly organized and proactive individual with good time management skills.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
  • Salary Range: $102,232 - $221,520
