Job Description:

The Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for two Aerospace Engineering faculty positions beginning in Fall 2027. The successful candidates will establish or expand nationally recognized, externally funded research programs; teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels; mentor students; contribute to departmental and university service; and collaborate across disciplinary boundaries. Candidates in the listed primary emphasis areas are particularly encouraged to apply but all areas of aerospace engineering will be considered. The appointments are intended for emerging scholars with compelling research visions and strong potential for externally funded scholarship. Relevant departmental strengths and opportunities include autonomous aerospace systems, orbital mechanics and astrodynamics, spacecraft dynamics and control, close-proximity operations, space situational awareness, aerospace materials, propulsion, hypersonics, and space systems design.

Requirements:

  • An earned doctorate in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related field by the anticipated start date.
  • Evidence of research achievement and strong potential to develop an externally funded research program.
  • Potential for excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching and student mentoring.
  • Commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and service to the department, university, and profession.

Preferred Qualifications: All areas of aerospace engineering; particular interest in aerospace materials, autonomy, astrodynamics, close-proximity operations, and space situational awareness
