Summary
The Department of Accounting and Finance invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Finance, beginning August 2027. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and research interests in financial planning and wealth management. This position is a full-time, renewable 9-month appointment.

The Department of Accounting and Finance offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Specialization and a Minor in Finance or in Insurance & Risk Management, with a total undergraduate enrollment of more than 500. Within the Finance specialization, the Department also offers the Financial Planning Concentration, which has been registered with the U.S. CFP4 Board of Standards since 1998, and the Financial Analyst Concentration, recognized as the CFA Institute's University Affiliated Program (UAP). Essential Functions
  • Teach and develop undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in general finance, financial planning and wealth management
  • Conduct high-quality scholarly research leading to publications in high-quality peer-reviewed finance journals
  • Provide service to the department, college, university, profession, and community
  • Contribute to the continued development and advancement of the department's Financial Planning Concentration and related initiatives


Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctorate degree in Finance from an AACSB accredited university, or in a related discipline, earned by the date of appointment

Preferred Qualifications

  • CFP4 (Certified Financial Planner) certification
  • Evidence of, or strong potential for, publication in high-quality peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience integrating sophisticated AI agent skills into teaching and research
  • Strong potential to contribute to the Department of Accounting and Finance programs and initiatives, as well as to the missions of the Schmidthorst College of Business and Bowling Green State University
