Full Job Description
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma, is recruiting for a clinical research faculty member with sub-specialty of Multiple Myeloma. Physicians who have extensive research experience in clinical investigation and outcomes research with particular focus in plasma cell dyscrasias such as Amyloidosis, Waldrenstroms, MGUS, (in particular stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies in high-risk Multiple Myeloma)are strongly encouraged to apply. Faculty rank and space will be provided consistent with experience. The successful candidate will have actively engaged in research in cancer biology, with potential relevance to biology of hematologic malignancies and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the department. The candidate will have protected time to lead and develop programs, translational clinical research and scholarly activities in keeping within the goals of the department. The selected candidate will seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support translational and clinical research, and assist with mentoring young faculty, fellows, and other trainees, as well as contribute to the overall mission of the department. There are multiple opportunities for collaboration with other clinicians, scientists and physician-scientists within the institution.

The successful candidate will have a M.D., or M.D. and Ph.D. degrees, with those holding an M.D. having demonstrated the ability to practice medicine, Oncology in particular. Candidates with an M.D. and eligible for American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certified clinicians in their primary specialty and board eligible for sub-specialty certification and license eligible in the State of Texas. Candidates must have at least 5 years experience post degree with any combination of time as a clinician, clinical scientist or GME trainee (except specialties with shorter residencies or fellowships). Candidates must show evidence of commitment to scholarly activity and proof of scientific accomplishments. Candidates should possess excellent writing and communication skills as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, presentation skills for professional meetings, and the demonstrated ability to obtain extramural funding for translational research.
