ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Valid teacher certification.
  2. Principal Standard Certificate or Principal CE
  3. A Master' Degree in curriculum development or administration.
  4. At least 3 (three) years of successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  5. Eligibility for an administrator's certificate.
  6. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable within state law.


REPORT TO:
Principal

JOB GOAL:
To provide leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of the instructional related programs of the school.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBIITIES:
  1. Provides staff leadership to insure understanding of and promote the educational objectives of the district, and helps to plan and administer programs of in-service educational activities for instructional personnel.
  1. Coordinates all formal efforts of the professional staff in projects of curriculum improvement.
  1. Works with the principal and teacher committees in organizing and coordinating grade level and departmental meetings, in order to effect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of the instructional program throughout the district.
  1. Maintains a curriculum library for staff use.
  1. Keeps abreast of and interprets for the staff current research in the area of curriculum development.
  1. Establishes a program for the ongoing evaluation of instruction and curriculum.
  1. Assists in the development and coordination of the sections of the budget that pertain to curriculum and instruction.
  1. Assumes a leadership role in developing curriculum for any course newly approved by the Board of Education.
  1. Participates in the work of local, state, and national curriculum associations.
  1. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal.


COMPENSATION: (100,000-128,000)
As negotiated with the Gloucester Township Principal's Association.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
12 Months

VACATION:
In accordance with the Gloucester Township Principal's Association contract.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Administrative Personnel.
