Assistant Plant Manager - Chaseburg Creamery

Location - Onsite Thisis an onsite role that works at the Chaseburg Creamery in Chaseburg, WI. The shift/hours are 7am - 4pm Monday - Friday
Employee Type - Salaried
Bonus - This position is eligible for a 5% annual incentive bonus based on cooperative and individual performance.

Summary of Role
The Assistant Plant Manager is responsible for helping to direct and manage the efficient operations of the Chaseburg Creamery.
The Assistant Plant Manager works to assist the Plant Manager in providing operational oversight with a strong emphasis on personnel safety, food safety, and food quality.
Success is measured by improvement of personnel and food safety metrics, while also improving productivity, quality metrics and increasing the operator's sense of ownership of systems.
This role promotes collaboration and teamwork within and between production, maintenance, and quality staff as well as others to foster motivation, increased productivity, and ensure the highest level of customer service. This is a safety sensitive role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Personnel Safety:
• Promote a culture of safety awareness and compliance among all employees.
• Conduct regular safety training sessions and drills to educate employees on safety protocols and procedures.
• Investigate accidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement preventive measures.
• Ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained and readily available for use.

Food Safety:
• Enforce rigorous food safety protocols in accordance with FDA, USDA, WDATCP, and other regulatory guidelines.
• Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential food safety risks.
• Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance food safety practices.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and records related to food safety procedures and compliance.

Food Quality:
• Uphold strict quality control standards throughout the manufacturing process.
• Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to product specifications and quality standards.
• Collaborate with quality assurance team to conduct product testing, analysis, and address any quality issues promptly.
• Implement preventive measures to minimize product defects and non-conformities.

Personnel Management:
• Communicates performance expectations by evaluating performance, providing timely feedback, training, and coaching, and recommending personnel actions for assigned staff.
• Ensures compliance with applicable policies, safety practices, and fair employment practices.
• Ensure that staff follows good manufacturing, safety, and quality assurance policies and practices.
• Support in scheduling, directing, training, auditing and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for the operation of Chaseburg Creamery.
• Collaborate with plant supervisors and staff to continuously improve production processes and quality at Chaseburg Creamery.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities
• Assists in coordinating production and processing of dairy products at Chaseburg Creamery to meet the cooperative's production/quality requirements.
• Working knowledge of the certification standards applied to Chaseburg Creamery, including: Kosher, DATCP, USDA, Organic, FDA, FSMA, BRC, Halal, Military and Organic Valley/CROPP Cooperative policies.
• Assists in establishing/monitoring measurable criteria to ensure desired results are obtained and provides management with updates via tracking reports reflective of Key Performance Indicators in line with set priorities and timing targets.
• Handles confidential information with discretion.
• Ensure food safety, maintenance, and production records are completed accurately and timely.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• 5+ years of experience in dairy manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, or related field (preferred).
• In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and quality management systems (HACCP, GMP, SQF, BRC, etc.).
• Developed oral and written communication and comprehension skills.
• Proven proficiency with inductive and deductive reasoning, problem solving and troubleshooting.
• Ability to work in a team environment providing strong leadership and communication.
• Good computer skills required; experience with Microsoft Outlook and Excel preferred, SAP is a plus.
• Ability to handle confidentiality in professional and appropriate manner.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, as needed.
• Certification in food safety (e.g., PCQI, HACCP) is a plus.
• Wisconsin Certification/Licensing in Pasteurization, Butter Making, and/or Cheese Making is a plus.

Base salary wage range: $80,641.60 - $100,817.60 peryear.
This salary wage rangeis exclusive of fringe benefits. The compensation package may also includeincentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary bonuses. Ifyou are hired at CROPP, your final base salary wage compensation will be determinedbased on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/orexperience. Additionally, we believe in the importance of pay equity andconsider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any finaloffer. Please keep in mind that entry-level candidates to this role shouldexpect to be at the lower end of the salary wage range and hiring at the maximum of the salary wage rangeis not typical.
