Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital as an Assistant Patient Care Manager (APCM) in the Urgent Aid! This position is a 100% onsite opportunity. You will need to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Eligible for a Sign-on Bonus up to $15,000

Under the direction of the ED/UA Director/Manager, the Assistant Patient Care Manager (APCM) functions as the assistive leader for a specific shift(s) and assumes responsibility for clinical practice which may include 24-hour accountability. The APCM is responsible for supporting coordination of care and communication to facilitate patient needs as well as providing direction to and counseling of unit staff. This position will also serve as a public relations representative for patients and their families.

Essential Job Functions
  • Maintain new hire and annual staff certifications via health stream, lab training completion
  • Collect and analyze quality metrics such as QC 30 total Chest pain/ Pneumonia charts monthly
  • Conduct DNV rounding completion
  • Monitor and respond to schedule changes, staffing shortfalls, cover call-offs as needed
  • Precept new staff
  • Conduct daily/shift rounds for compliance with regulatory requirements; crash cart logs, refrigerator logs, etc.
  • Performs other duties assigned

Required Qualifications
  • 3-5 years RN in Emergency Department preferred


Education and License/ Certfication Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing/BSN required
  • Current RN license for State of Illinois
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS
  • CEN (preferred, not required)
  • Competencies: To be completed within one year of hire, RN core competencies for specialty and current leadership competency work.

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.

The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
