Overview

Beebe Healthcare is seeking a compassionate, experienced, and collaborative Assistant Nurse Manager to help lead our Women's & Children's Service Line. This leadership role supports a 12-bed Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) unit and a 9-bed Medical-Surgical Pediatric unit, ensuring the delivery of exceptional, patient-centered care for women, newborns, children, and families.

Working closely with the Nurse Manager, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams, the Assistant Nurse Manager provides daily clinical and operational leadership while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This role serves as a key leadership resource for frontline staff and provides bench-strength for the Nurse Manager position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day clinical and operational leadership for the Women's & Children's Service Line.
  • Assist with daily unit operations, including patient flow, staffing assignments, acuity-based scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Support staffing and patient care for Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, Nursery, Pediatric Med-Surg, and adult medical-surgical overflow, when appropriate.
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, providers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
  • Assist with recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, retention, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Coach, mentor, and provide performance feedback to RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and support staff.
  • Support orientation, competency validation, and professional development for new graduate nurses and experienced staff.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, regulatory readiness, audits, and evidence-based practice projects.
  • Promote a culture of patient safety by encouraging reporting and resolution of safety events, near misses, and process improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in patient-centered leadership rounding and service recovery to ensure an exceptional patient and family experience.
  • Address patient and family concerns with professionalism, compassion, and timely follow-up.
  • Serve as a communication liaison between frontline staff and nursing leadership to support organizational goals and operational excellence.
  • Assist with departmental fiscal stewardship, productivity monitoring, and efficient resource utilization.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications

  • Strong clinical expertise in Perinatal nursing and/or Med-Surg/Pediatrics
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of acute care nursing experience, with strong preference in:
    • Labor and Delivery
    • Postpartum/Mother-Baby
    • Newborn/Nursery care
    • Pediatrics or Med-Surg experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience (charge nurse, preceptor, clinical team lead, or supervisor role).
  • Leadership skills and staff engagement
  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to manage crisis situations effectively
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service to patients, team members, and visitors.
  • Knowledge and experience with electronic health records.

Credentials

  • Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification preferred (or obtained within six months of hire for candidates with Basic Fetal Monitoring)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification within six months of hire
  • Specialty Certification such as RNC-OB or C-EFM strongly preferred


Education

  • State of Delaware RN license
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or related healthcare leadership degree preferred.
