Salary Range: $126,454-$168,606Relocation: NoPosition SummaryAs the Assistant Manager of Technical Studies at Oncor, you'll lead and manage Distribution Planning activities related to Distributed Energy Resource (DER) interconnections and power quality analyses on Oncor's distribution system, and associated modeling activities. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that we have the right strategies and processes in place to support our customers with a safe, reliable and accessible electric grid.
Role and Responsibilities- Supervise the preparation of technical, integrated system designs and coordination/protection studies associated with the installation of smart automation devices
- Review system protection needs for load interconnections of all types on the distribution system and the field implementation of these solutions
- Review conceptual design scheme recommendations. This includes ensuring compliance with radial and networked distribution system protection philosophy associated with the installation of various protective devices such as automatic circuit reclosers, sectionalizers, circuit breakers, fuses, electromechanical and microprocessor relays
- Assist with the development of workflows and reporting functions of the future protective relay settings and asset management/repository software
- Support the development of strategies for integration of systems, processes and data from various sources in support of "future state" operations and technology strategies. Performs studies to understand the impact of future technologies and works with internal and external stakeholders to continue evolution of electric grid.
- Lead the development of studies for power quality and DER in conjunction with appropriate internal stakeholder groups, including but not limited to technical studies on voltage, reliability, harmonics, and both small and large capacity DER.
- Lead the development of models, as necessary to support technical studies of Oncor's distribution system.
- Support company and/or industry committees or technical working groups providing technical and analytical expertise in the areas of power quality and DER, as well as, in various legal and regulatory matters. This includes, but is not limited to, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) standard development and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) stakeholder process.
- Facilitate a high-performance team culture including hiring high-potential job candidates, providing mentoring to professionally develop team members, and demonstrating continuous improvement practices.
- Represent Distribution Planning in internal and external stakeholder related to technical studies.
- Maintain a current knowledge of electric utility rules, technical, administrative and regulatory requirements for reliable, safe operation of the systems.

Education & Education:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 5+ years of utility industry experience required.
