Job Purpose:Oversee the day-to-day functions and operations of the maintenance department. Assist the Maintenance Manager in all aspects of their duties. Ensure all DOT specifications are met.

- Ensure timely completion of maintenance tasks.
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, counseling, and issuing discipline to maintenance staff members
through documentation in accordance with Company and client specifications.
- Manage equipment, parts and supplies inventories.
- Ensure all mechanics have proper licenses and certifications.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to identify maintenance needs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs, and equipment
history.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction within
the maintenance department.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and
maximize efficiency.
- Other duties assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the maintenance facility.
Qualifications: - High School diploma required; some college preferred.
- Must have 3+ years of supervisory experience in a maintenance environment.
- Must have 3+ years' experience dealing with heavy equipment. Experience with hybrid vehicles a
- plus.
- Experience working with Unions and in the transportation industry a must.
- Must have previous experience supervising employees on multiple shifts.
- ASE certifications are required.
- Must be a team player yet able to work well independently.
- Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possesses good judgment and discretion.
- Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.
- General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft office package.
- Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.
