Position Overview:The Assistant Maintenance Engineer directs, plans, and coordinates activities in the Maintenance Department and Electrical Controls Technician, ensuring proper machine repair and uptime are achieved.

- Efficiently and cost-effectively repair and maintain all related plant equipment, buildings, and grounds.
- Direct day-to-day work activities of Maintenance Department staff, establishing tasks and effective procedures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance program for all related plant assets, including conveyors, compressors, proofers, ovens, robotics, and palletizing systems.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all maintenance procedures, including preventative/predictive maintenance and emergency repair activities.
- Implement and maintain an activity-based work order system for all repairs, including safety compliance procedures, and maintain documentation accordingly.
- Coordinate with the Materials Department to ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Maintain plant equipment to achieve 90% or better asset utilization; monitor and improve utilization indices.
- Establish long-term goals for Maintenance Technicians and measure task completion and work thoroughness.
- Recommend, justify, and maintain a spare parts inventory to ensure facility functionality.
- Prioritize repair and maintenance activities based on customer demand and safety compliance.
- Manage and maintain company property, ensuring storage locations, work areas, and equipment are neat and organized.
- Enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other regulations.
- Complete maintenance purchase order requisitions and obtain appropriate approvals.
- Provide personal tools necessary for effective repair of company assets.
- Manage maintenance activities to improve customer satisfaction, equipment utilization, and throughput.
- Ensure timely completion of all maintenance repairs to machinery and equipment.
- Support production activities and be available on an "on-call" basis to meet customer and production requirements.
- Work with contractors when necessary, coordinating with materials and production to utilize A3 or Gantt tracking charts.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalency; college or certificate program preferred.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
- Journeyman certification preferred but not required.
- HVAC certification is a plus.
- PLC logic experience with software packages and controls such as AB and Siemens.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic competencies.
- Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance procedures.
- Strong knowledge of programmable controls, with the ability to troubleshoot and modify programs.
- Working knowledge of plant machinery, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and HVAC.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs and stand for 8 hours a day.
