About The Role

The Assistant General Manager partners with the General Manager to lead the daily operations of Flanker Sports Bar and Hidden Boot Saloon, bringing an entrepreneurial approach to identifying and acting on opportunities that maximize the business's full potential. The Assistant General Manager directs, implements, and maintains service and management standards that guide the team toward excellence in sales, cost control, employee retention, cleanliness, and sanitation - leading, educating, motivating, and energizing staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

What You Will Do

  • Support the General Manager in running the daily operations of the venue.


  • Manage, lead, and mentor floor managers and hourly staff.


  • Be present on the floor during service - touching tables, building guest relationships, and driving repeat business.


  • Foster and always maintain positive guest relations; anticipate guest needs, respond promptly, and resolve complaints to ensure satisfaction.


  • Ensure service and food/beverage quality are maintained at the highest standards.


  • Guide, direct, and train service staff; observe the flow of service and provide hands-on assistance, including performing FOH service tasks when needed.


  • Prepare staff work schedules and assign specific duties.


  • Support recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding of managers and hourly employees.


  • Coach, train, and develop management staff; enforce disciplinary action as needed.


  • Foster a cooperative working climate that maximizes team morale, productivity, and teamwork.


  • Analyze staffing requirements, develop staffing plans, and assess opportunities for future growth.


  • Assist the GM in managing budgeted controllable expenses (labor, cost of sales, supplies, repairs & maintenance, etc.).


  • Grow sales through local outreach, marketing, networking, and staff incentives that raise guest check average.


  • Keep the General Manager informed of sales performance and key operational issues.


  • Ensure all financial and personnel/payroll administrative duties are completed accurately and on time.


  • Enforce sanitary food-handling and cleanliness practices; ensure compliance with operational standards and all applicable health, safety, and local regulations.


  • Ensure a safe working and guest environment; complete accident reports promptly for any guest or employee injury.


  • Uphold all standards and expectations set by upper management.


  • Update and track daily operational reports.


  • Perform other duties as assigned or as business needs require.


About You

  • Minimum 3-5+ years of experience in hospitality/restaurant front-line operations, including experience in a fine dining, high-volume, or premium bar/restaurant environment.


  • Previous experience opening an upscale, full-service restaurant with a proven track record of providing the highest level of guest and employee satisfaction.


  • Strong management, leadership, and team-building skills, verifiable by peers and prior supervisors.


  • Strong business acumen, including budgetary and financial/P&L analysis skills.


  • Organization and multi-tasking skills with strong attention to detail.


  • Proficient across restaurant functions: planning and preparation, purchasing, sanitation, security, personnel management, recordkeeping, and reporting.


  • Operating knowledge of POS systems (e.g., Toast), SevenRooms, Microsoft Office, or similar restaurant software.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.


  • Ability to quickly integrate into a team and be recognized as a leader; ability to delegate effectively with professionalism.


  • Professional, polished demeanor with the ability to exceed guest expectations.


  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.


  • Strong work ethic and customer-focused approach.


  • Ability to work 10+ hour shifts on your feet, including weekends, evenings, late nights, and holidays.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.


  • Ability to lift and carry items weighing 10 - 30 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds on a regular (or occasional basis).


  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.


Compensation range: 85,000 - 100,000 per year
