SALARY RANGE: 143,894.40 - 223,038.40YEARLY
General Summary:Coordinates legal services provided to Bayhealth Medical Center, Inc. ("Bayhealth") and related corporations; coordinates the contract management program; provides legal advice and counsel for hospital operations, corporate, medical staff, and care management issues. Drafts/negotiates/edits contracts for use by various departments; drafts, files, presents guardianship petitions for Bayhealth patients; reviews and revises contracts from vendors; prepares, drafts, and litigates debt actions, and arbitration matters. Reports to the General Counsel.
Responsibilities:1. Provide support to the General Counsel and the organization on a variety of legal matters.
2. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts consistent with Bayhealth's strategic objectives.
3. Provide legal direction and supervision to clinical and business units.
4. Collaborate with external counsel to provide efficient, cost effective, and effective legal management for the corporate client.
5. Draft policies and policy changes, as required.
6. Create and review employment contracts, handbooks, and other HR-related legal documents.
7. Assist in the defense of employment-related lawsuits and claims.
8. Anticipate and mitigate potential legal issues within the organization and develops strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of risk.
9. Lead various legal assignments and negotiate workable solutions to complex legal issues.
10. Serve as a legal representative for Bayhealth in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, trials and other legal proceedings.
11. Develop and present in-service sessions and other educational programs for Bayhealth employees on pertinent legal issues.
12. Provide advice and recommendations on the handling of all actual or threatened professional and general liability claims
13. Serve as a legal advisor to work groups, committees, and related entities, as needed.
14. All other duties as assigned, within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:- Education: Juris Doctorate Law
- Credential(s): Delaware law license and Bar membership in good standing
- Experience: Required: Five years legal experience, either in a law firm or an in-house legal department
