Full Job Description
We are seeking experienced Assistant District Attorneys for the Strategic Investigations Bureau ("SIB"). The Strategic Investigations Bureau conducts long-term investigations focusing on multi-defendant, conspiracy-based crimes, targeting criminal networks and Illicit revenue streams. This bureau includes the Major Narcotics Unit and the Auto Crimes Unit.

The Strategic Investigations Bureau partners with Federal, State and Local agencies to investigate crimes while also conducting proactive investigations, including:
  • Insurance fraud cases
  • Stolen car cases from the NYPD or NYSP Auto Crime Division
  • Forged vehicle title cases
  • Insurance Fraud cases
  • Pattern burglary and robbery investigations.
  • Airport cases involving cargo and organized theft schemes.
  • Case involving Operating as a Major Trafficker and cases involving the seizure of a kilogram or more of controlled substance.
  • Counterfeit currency cases
  • Money laundering cases
  • Organized retail theft cases
  • Trademark Counterfeiting cases
  • Extortion and loansharking cases

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Managing a caseload of investigations and prosecutions in the bureau.
  • The vertical prosecution of cases including grand jury presentations, hearings, trials, negotiating possible dispositions, sentencing and other matters.
  • Working extensively with law enforcement in drafting search warrants, GPS orders, Cell Site Orders and Electronic Communications Interception orders.
  • Oversee Electronic Communications Interception (Wiretap) investigations, including but not limited to drafting wiretap applications, managing a wire team, following up on daily leads, prosecuting a wire case from grand jury through trial, electronic surveillance analysis.
  • Provide investigative on-call assistance to NYPD and other law enforcement agencies on a rotating basis.

Qualifications: Candidates should have experience investigating and trying complex and challenging cases.

Interested applicants must possess a J.D. degree, be an active member of the New York State bar in good standing and have at least 4 years post-J.D. experience. Applicants must also have:
  • All candidates must be admitted to practice law in the State of New York.
  • Experience in handling all aspects of criminal investigation and prosecution, especially complex multi-defendant and conspiracy driven cases.
  • Electronic Communications Interception investigation and prosecution experience.
  • Substantive experience in drafting legal process including but not limited to search warrants, GPS orders and Cell Site Orders.
  • Felony jury trial experience.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary will be commensurate with experience, ranging from $102,000 to $128,000.
