Job Description
The Assistant Director, System Research Compliance, under direction, is responsible for the operational leadership and supervision of all aspects of research compliance and occupational health programs. Provides strategic advice on best practices in compliance, ensuring proactive adherence to evolving federal regulations, institutional policies, and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the overall operations and continuous development of institutional programming, ensuring integration within compliance framework and proactive alignment with evolving federal regulations, institutional policies, and current guidelines.
- Provides operational leadership and direct coordination for the comprehensive review protocols.
- Directs the administrative and procedural integrity of operations, including accurate documentation of meetings and timely follow-up activities to maintain compliance and reduce administrative burden.
- Develops, maintains, and regularly reviews Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and related business practices, ensuring alignment with evolving federal guidelines.
- Contributes to the dissemination of biosafety knowledge and best practices through presentations, publications, and outreach materials.
- Assists with ensuring that investigation and response to incidents are appropriately investigated, thoroughly documented, and promptly reported.
- Facilitates the implementation of corrective and preventive actions identified from incident investigations and program audits, contributing to the continuous improvement and enhanced effectiveness of practices and compliance.
- Assists in coordinating training sessions, workshops, and institutional events promoting a strong safety culture.
- Advises leadership and research teams on personnel and other resource needs, as well as the financial implications related to compliance and infrastructure improvements.
- Manages administrative processes, including developing and regularly reviewing program business practices, standard operating procedures, and forms, to streamline compliance workflows and reduce internal administrative burden.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eight years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
