Position Summary

This position will facilitate the research climate at UNMC by assisting faculty and administrators in proposal submission and award processing and management. Specifically, this position will: (1) provide leadership in the administration and coordination of the pre-award and non-financial post award management of sponsored projects supported by federal, state, private, industry and other sponsors, (2) lead and manage the research development initiatives of SPA, (3) direct the daily work flow in the SPA office related to the submission of sponsored projects, (4) fulfill the duties of the director in the director's absence.

Demonstrated experience making independent decision, researching, analyzing and solving problems
-Efficiency, diplomacy and composure in multi-tasking under pressure of multiple deadlines
Highly experienced program development and problem solving techniques
-Ability to collect and analyze data, identify trends and operational changes

Communication and relational skills:
-Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the flexibility to manage through ambiguity with minimal direction
-Excellent interpersonal skills and proven experience working both independently and as an effective team member
-Extensive experience interacting effectively with all levels of employees, including executive staff, faculty physicians and scientists, as well as sponsors and federal agency personnel
-Demonstrated leadership skills, a proven ability to promote team productivity and cohesiveness and to provide clear direction is required.

Technical Knowledge:
-A thorough knowledge and understanding of the guidelines, laws and regulations of governmental and private sponsors relating to research grants and agreements to include the Federal Acquisition Regulations, Office of Management and Budget Circular's A-21, A-110, A-133
-Advanced technical competence in wide range of research compliance issues
-Experienced and proficient in balancing regulatory compliance requirements against practical needs and limitations
-Advanced working knowledge of contracting principles
