Full Job Description
Under the general direction of the Center for Equity for English Learner's Director, the Assistant Director, Professional Learning, will collaborate on Center projects in the areas of leadership development, teacher development, coaching, Spanish curriculum design and implementation, and policy initiatives.
Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
• Support and engage in CEEL's Professional Learning Branch (PLB) planning, coordination, and implementation efforts.
• Provide input for the strategic direction for CEEL's professional learning agenda across leadership development, teacher development, coaching, curriculum design, and policy initiatives, with an emphasis on dual language and bilingual educational settings.
• Foster a collaborative culture rooted in shared leadership and collective ownership of CEEL's initiatives
Program Design & Instructional Leadership
• Provide instructional and programmatic technical assistance to partner districts, including coaching support, curriculum review, classroom-based professional learning, parent workshops and meetings, and customized program development, including emerging areas such as AI and STEAM.
• Create and support the development of biliteracy curricular materials, reviews, publications, and tools for English Learners and Multilingual learners
• Lead the design, coordination, administration and continuous improvement of CEEL's Certificate Programs, ensuring instructional quality, program coherence, and delivery.
• Develop, coordinate, and facilitate select CEEL signature professional learning programs, such as the Formative Assessment Institute.
• Serve as instructor of record for Academic Spanish Courses, fulfilling all instructional responsibilities including content delivery, syllabus management, student communication, and assessment.
• Coordinate project data management and conduct analyses to prepare detailed project reports, papers, and presentations.
• Provide support to and guide CEEL's professional learning consultants in project implementation and deliverables.
Partnership Development & External Engagement
• Represent CEEL in internal and external forums to promote initiatives and expand impact, contributing subject matter expertise. Cultivate and sustain strategic partnerships with LMU entities, school districts, universities, and community organizations. Steward relationships and support efforts to secure funding through grant writing and contract development.
• Develop, prepare, coordinate and co-present professional development sessions hosted by CEEL.
• Conduct competitor review and analysis to assess CEEL's provision of services and pricing.
Operations & Resource Management
• Coordinate collaboration with the Operations Branch to support the planning, coordination, and implementation of professional learning programs, services, under areas of content expertise and responsibility. Contribute to CEEL's marketing and communications efforts, including digital platforms and publications.

Requisite Qualifications
• Typically a Master's Degree in Education (or comparable field) with experience in Bilingual/Dual Language Education. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of regulation/policy changes.
• Experience with schools and school systems responding to the needs of linguistic diverse students in the PK-12 system
• Minimum five years of progressively responsible experience required.
• Experience in teacher/educator professional development and/or higher education teaching experience
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting, program design, project management, organization and management techniques
• Knowledge of biliteracy curriculum and pedagogy appropriate for linguistically diverse students in multilingual settings (Spanish preferred)
• Extensive knowledge in research, principles, practices, methods, and techniques for first and second language acquisition
• Effective writing and communication skills across a variety of multimedia platforms
• Biliteracy in one of California's top five languages is highly desirable (Spanish preferred)

Staff Term (Fixed Term)
Salary range
$78,600.00 - $102,200.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
