Pay Range: $125,000.00 - $162,600.00 per year

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

The Pediatric ICU is a 20-bed unit that provides round-the-clock critical care to infants, children, and adolescents with life-threatening illnesses or injuries. They continuously monitor vital signs, manage ventilators, administer high-risk medications, and assist physicians during bedside procedures. The team provides emotional support and education to families facing stressful medical crises. As a state designated Level 1 trauma center, the unit cares for patients before and after complex procedures. The multidisciplinary team delivers highly specialized monitoring, critical care interventions, and evidence-based treatment focused on achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

The Assistant Director of Patient Care plays a pivotal role in supporting the Director of Patient Care in overseeing the delivery of high-quality, patient centered nursing services within a designated unit or department. This position combines clinical expertise, leadership, and administrative responsibilities to ensure efficient operations, staff development & engagement, and compliance with regulatory standards.

The Assistant Director fosters a collaborative environment, promotes patient safety, and drives quality improvement initiatives while assisting in the management of daily operations and long-term strategic goals. This role is also responsible in assisting with administrative tasks such as scheduling, budgeting, and compliance.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • BSN required
  • At least 3-5 years of leadership/charge/preceptor experience as a Pediatric Registered Nurse required

Preferred:
  • MSN highly preferred
  • Previous acute care experience preferred
  • Previous experience as a nursing director preferred

Certifications and Licenses Required:
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certifications required
  • TNCC or PCAR/TCAR Certification required
  • Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License required

Scheduling Requirements:
  • Night Shift, 40 hours per week
  • Full-Time
  • On Call Leadership Coverage

Essential Functions:
  • Provides leadership and direction in order to fulfill the goals and objectives of the unit/organization
  • Effectively communicates information to staff, utilizes resources and manages staff and services
  • Assists the Director with the daily operations of the unit and delegated responsibilities
  • Will be assigned 50 percent of patient care responsibilities
  • Collaboratively prepares and maintains staff schedule and payroll
  • Effectively collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and drives through-out staff accountability
