Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care and maintaining compliance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and professional nursing standards. The ADON assists with the day-to-day operation of the Nursing Department, provides leadership and support to nursing staff, and helps ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and appropriate care.

The ADON serves as a clinical and administrative resource to nursing staff and assumes nursing leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services.
  • Supervise nursing staff and provide guidance, coaching, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor resident care outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in survey preparedness and assist with plans of correction.
  • Assist with staffing coordination, scheduling, and clinical coverage as needed.
  • Investigate and follow up on incidents, accidents, and resident concerns.
  • Support infection prevention, medication management, and risk management programs.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care plan processes.
  • Assist with orientation, training, and competency evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Promote resident rights, safety, and quality of life.
  • Serve as acting Director of Nursing in the DON's absence.
Qualifications
