Position SummaryThe Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) supports the Director of Nursing in overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing care and maintaining compliance with facility policies, state and federal regulations, and professional nursing standards. The ADON assists with the day-to-day operation of the Nursing Department, provides leadership and support to nursing staff, and helps ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and appropriate care.
The ADON serves as a clinical and administrative resource to nursing staff and assumes nursing leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Nursing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services.
- Supervise nursing staff and provide guidance, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor resident care outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in survey preparedness and assist with plans of correction.
- Assist with staffing coordination, scheduling, and clinical coverage as needed.
- Investigate and follow up on incidents, accidents, and resident concerns.
- Support infection prevention, medication management, and risk management programs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care plan processes.
- Assist with orientation, training, and competency evaluation of nursing staff.
- Promote resident rights, safety, and quality of life.
- Serve as acting Director of Nursing in the DON's absence.
Qualifications- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing supervisory experience, preferably in long-term care or skilled nursing.
- Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, state regulations, and long-term care operations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with electronic medical records and healthcare software preferred.

Schedule- Full-Time, M-F
- Occasional flexibility to meet operational needs
- Share in periodic nursing leadership coverage to support the facility outside of regular business hours when needed.
