Duties & Responsibilities

Position Overview:

The Assistant Director of Finance works under the general supervision of the Deputy Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities, including business planning, budgeting, accounting; forecasting and banking relationships. The Assistant Director of Finance has a robust financial background, strong leadership skills and the ability to manage the financial health of the Post-Acute Care service line.

The Assistant Director of Finance will provide exemplary stewardship through the establishment, monitoring and improvement of the accounting, finance and administrative systems programs and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement financial strategies by forecasting capital, facilities, and staff requirements; identify monetary resources; develop action plans
  • Monitor financial performance by measuring and analyzing results; initiate corrective actions, minimize the impact of variances
  • Monitors document flow from health care setting financial units for timeliness, completeness and accuracy.
  • Manage budget and forecast process, provide financial direction and assist in strategic decisions
  • Prepare timely and detailed reports on financial performance
  • Review financial reports for ways to reduce costs
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements by researching existing and new legislation, consulting with internal and external advisors, and filing financial reports
  • Oversee the organization's financial systems and procedures; recommend improvements where necessary
  • Manage internal and external relationships; interact with various stakeholders
  • Lead, guide, support and mentor a team of finance and accounting professionals fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Reviews operational procedures in compliance with authorized systems; implements changes necessary to stave off deterioration of their effectiveness, and recommends and guides the installation of improved procedures for efficient operation of current health care setting financial systems.
  • Manage the submission of PBJ reports and coordinate audits
  • Ensure provider enrollment with Medicaid & Medicare
  • Travel within the five (5) PAC sites as needed


Minimum Qualifications
1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline with an emphasis on accounting and financial systems; and two (2) years of responsible-level experience in fiscal management or administration with an emphasis on financial
systems, management information and controls, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or managerial capacity; or
2.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in disciplines, as listed in "1" above; and three(3)years of experience, as described in "1" above, one (1) year of which must have been in a responsible administrative or managerial capacity.

Department Preferences

  • Strong accounting acumen capable of analyzing vast amounts of data and be able to effectively
    communicate both orally and written to all department level management
  • Experience with the preparation of RCF and ICR; and PBJ reporting
  • Adept in Microsoft Office applications specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of the PeopleSoft Accounting systems and sub-systems. Capable of utilizing search engines to obtain information as needed. Proficiency with spreadsheet software, database software, and financial/budgeting software
  • Strong ability to analyze complex data sets, perform cost-benefit analysis, and identify financial trends
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to explain technical financial information to non-financial stakeholders and defend recommendations
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
