A designated Stroke Center, caring for approximately 33,000 patients a year, St. Joseph's Emergency Department provides a full spectrum of care for emergency conditions. With state of the art technology, there are new revolutionary ways to provide care for our patients.

The Assistant Director of the Emergency Department will be committed to performance improvement and service quality, and will contribute their talents to achieve individual, departmental, and hospital wide goals and objectives.

 Our Assistant Director will:

• Provide overall leadership and direction for all aspects of nursing care in the Emergency Department and Clinical Decision Unit.
• Be responsible for 24/7 administrative and clinical oversight, including evaluation of nursing care across emergency, and service lines, as well as financial, clinical, and quality metrics.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory agency requirements and adherence to standards of nursing practice within assigned patient care areas.
• Collaborate with department leaders to identify and resolve issues in the best interest of patient care and outcomes.
• Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of programs supporting recruitment, retention, and continuing education of nursing staff.
• Assume administrative responsibility for weekend shift coverage and staffing on a rotational basis as required for unit management.
• Actively participate in nursing and hospital-wide committees.
• Establish, implement, and maintain performance improvement programs based on data analysis.
• Participate in the development, review, and revision of Nursing Department policies and procedures.

What you’ll bring:

• Passion for Emergency Nursing & Leadership 
• 2-5+ years of recent clinical RN experience in an acute care setting required

• Demonstrated Nursing Leadership/Management experience in an acute care healthcare environment; Clinical Nursing practice experience of 2+ Years in positions of successively greater responsibility including leadership positions in an acute care setting required

• Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with demonstrated leadership ability.  Must be proficient with public speaking, writing, presentations, Microsoft Office Suite.
• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing is required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree is preferred

• Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
• Preferred certifications: Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Critical Care Registered (CCRN), Certified Nurse Executive (NE), or Nurse Executive Advanced Certification (NEA)
