Duties & Responsibilities

The Assistant Director assists in the strategic planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of workforce marketing, organizational communications, employee engagement, employer branding, public information, and community engagement initiatives for NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County. The incumbent provides leadership and administrative oversight of the Workforce Marketing Team and T-Building Front Desk operations, ensuring effective communications, exceptional customer service, and operational support for employees, applicants, visitors, and the public.

The position collaborates with hospital leadership, internal departments, community organizations, educational institutions, and other external stakeholders to advance organizational priorities through strategic communications, workforce marketing, public information, community engagement, and special initiatives.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises and evaluates Workforce Marketing Managers and other assigned staff responsible for workforce marketing initiatives.

  • Provides strategic direction for workforce marketing, employer branding, employee engagement, recruitment marketing, organizational communications, workforce wellness campaigns, public information, and special organizational initiatives.
  • Oversees the planning, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and completion of multiple concurrent workforce marketing, communications, community engagement, and special projects throughout the healthcare facility.
  • Assists in developing and implementing workforce communication strategies, marketing initiatives, employer branding campaigns, community engagement activities, and public information programs that support organizational goals.
  • Establishes communication standards, branding practices, and operational procedures for workforce marketing, organizational communications, public information, and related activities.
  • Directs and supervises Workforce Marketing staff, establishes work priorities, assigns responsibilities, and evaluates departmental performance.
  • Reviews project plans, marketing strategies, communication campaigns, multimedia initiatives, presentations, publications, public information materials, and workforce engagement activities to ensure quality, consistency, and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Oversees the development of employer branding initiatives designed to attract, recruit, engage, and retain qualified healthcare professionals.
  • Directs the development of workforce communication strategies, including employee newsletters, recruitment campaigns, internal communications, digital media, social media initiatives, websites, promotional materials, public information materials, and executive presentations.
  • Oversees the production and coordination of educational videos, training materials, compliance communications, Joint Commission readiness materials, workforce education campaigns, and other informational and educational programs.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources, Workforce Wellness, Volunteer Services, Care Experience, Community Outreach, Nursing Administration, executive leadership, and other departments to coordinate organization-wide workforce, communications, and engagement initiatives.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between Workforce Marketing and internal departments, community organizations, educational institutions, consultants, vendors, media partners, and other external stakeholders regarding workforce marketing, communications, public information, and related initiatives.
  • Coordinates with community organizations, educational institutions, and other external stakeholders to support workforce marketing, public information, community engagement, and organizational initiatives.
  • Develops departmental budgets and monitors expenditures associated with workforce marketing projects, communications initiatives, and vendor contracts.
  • Reviews departmental metrics, campaign analytics, recruitment marketing performance, employee engagement data, website activity, and communication effectiveness to evaluate program impact and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Identifies project risks and operational issues; develops corrective action plans and ensures successful implementation of solutions.
  • Oversees special executive projects assigned by senior leadership involving workforce transformation, organizational culture, strategic communications, branding, recruitment, employee engagement, public information, and community engagement.
  • Provides regular reports, executive briefings, dashboards, and recommendations to hospital leadership regarding departmental performance, project status, workforce marketing initiatives, communication activities, and organizational outcomes.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with NYC Health + Hospitals policies, branding standards, project management methodologies, communication requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Represents the department on multidisciplinary committees, strategic planning groups, leadership meetings, community-related initiatives, and System-wide projects as assigned.
  • Provides direct administrative oversight of the T-Building Front Desk staff and daily operations.
  • Supervises, coaches, evaluates, and develops Front Desk personnel to ensure exceptional customer service and operational efficiency for employees, applicants, visitors, community members, and the public.
  • Develops and implements customer service standards, Front Desk procedures, communication protocols, and workflow improvements to support effective interaction with employees, applicants, visitors, and the public.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Masters degree in Arts or Science with a specialization in hospital administration, health care administration, administrative medicine or in public health when conferred for a program in hospital administration, from an approved college or university; or a Baccalaureate degree; and,
2. One (1) year of administrative experience and background; or,
3. An equivalent combination of training, education and experience in related fields and educational disciplines; and,
4. General knowledge of policies and programs utilized in the operation of a health care facility, ability to assimilate and analyze data, to recommend action based on analytical findings, and to assist in the solution of complex problems in health care administration and management.
