Job Description

The Assistant Dean of Admissions is a Senior leader of the dean's leadership team. This position will work closely with the Dean and will have leadership responsibilities for various areas including Student Relationship Management (SRM) and Communications, the Campus Visit Experience, and management of our regional admissions staff. The Assistant Dean will play a critical role in developing the Office of Admissions Strategic Plan, preparing annual reports, and representing the University to various constituents; prospective students and parents, counselors, alumni, agencies, vendors and other professional organizations. The Assistant Dean will also be expected to foster relationships with school counselors and recruit students from designated high schools while assisting with the review of applications. In addition, this position will manage all areas related to staff professional development, including mentorship, conference attendance and skill development.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred along with ten years of experience in college admissions.
  • Skills include, management, budgeting, personnel relations, communications and public speaking, marketing and data analysis.

Responsibilities
  • Recruitment - Serve as a senior leader within the recruitment team, shaping and directing strategy for assigned territories and populations rather than simply executing activities. Represent the University at major visitation events, high-profile prospective family and special interest candidate meetings, and other high-visibility engagements requiring polished, senior-level representation. Plan and execute recruitment travel for designated schools to include school visits, college fairs, case study programs, and special programming to include faculty, alumni, parents and current students, when appropriate. Review applications for admission for a designated student population. Participate as a key contributor in shaping the entering class to meet the undergraduate enrollment goals of the University.
  • Leadership - provide management, direction, and strategic vision to our Student Relationship Management (SRM) Team, Campus Visit Experience Team and our Regional Admissions Team, aligning each function's goals with the University's broader enrollment strategy. Set performance expectations, develop staff capacity, and foster a culture of accountability and collaboration across teams.
  • Strategy - Serve as a member of the Dean's senior leadership team contributing substantively to all aspects of strategic planning, policy development, and long-range enrollment goals. Bring particular expertise and leadership to marketing and communications strategy, and to the continued innovation and enhancement of the Campus Visit and Virtual Visit experiences, ensuring these engagements meaningfully connect with prospective students, families, school counselors, and other key stakeholders while reinforcing the University's brand and enrollment priorities.
  • Professional Development - Create and execute a staff development plan to support staff members at every level of the organization that addresses office expectations, enhancing individual skills, professional knowledge and individualized mentoring support.
