Job Summary The Assistant Dean of Academic Programs is responsible for curricular governance throughout CoLA and works with the executive team and CoLA's twelve college departments to coordinate and execute the operational and strategic goals of the college and the university to ensure the success of student development initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Curricular & Program Governance- Shepherds CoLA's 12 departments' curriculum proposals through the university approval pipeline.
- Lead College curricular innovations (e.g., credit for prior learning, microcredential, and online teaching).
Faculty Liaison: Using data informed strategies- Partner with Department Chairs on course scheduling and enrollment management to balance faculty load with student needs.
Enrollment Modeling- Harness historical and predictive enrollment data to forecast instructional demand across 12 departments, translating analysis into strategic narratives that guide decisions on course planning and student access.
- Cultivate a shared culture of data storytelling and insight among academic leaders.
Holistic Success Management- Oversees the development, maintenance, and interpretation of data dashboards monitoring retention, graduation, and post-graduate outcomes across graduate and undergraduate populations.
- Provides strategic leadership by guiding the College executive team and program directors in using these insights to design, implement, and evaluate meaningful, scalable interventions that promote holistic student success.
Academic Policy- Draft, interpret and implement college-wide academic regulations and degree requirements.
Process Optimization- Streamline the curricular proposal process through digital workflows and clear auditing.

Minimum Qualifications - Ph.D. or terminal degree
- Five (5) years of higher ed administration experience including curriculum mapping.
Preferred Qualifications - Two (2) years' experience with curriculum mapping in a R1 University environment.
- Two (2) years' experience leading data-informed initiatives that improved student retention, graduation, or post-graduate outcomes, including designing, implementing, and assessing targeted interventions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Mentoring faculty and/or staff with emerging data skills in the use of analytics, dashboards, and narrative reporting to support academic programs and student outcomes.
- University regulations regarding student progress toward graduation, graduation requirements, academic eligibility requirements.
- Experience with curriculum mapping; ability to navigate complex shared governance; high emotional intelligence for faculty negotiations.
- Computer literacy with full command of Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with PeopleSoft.
Other Requirements - Ability to navigate campus facilities to survey use and needs.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
