Full Job Description
Position: Assistant Controller

Department: Accounting/Finance

Reports To: Controller

Supervises: Select Accounting Staff

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary/Objectives: Utilizing accounting experience and an in-depth understanding of accounting principles and company practices, plan, organize, direct and control the accounting and control function; report operational results; perform complex accounting activities and financial analyses. Responsible for tracking and reporting Company costs, productivity, margins and expenditures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned): To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • Coordinates and administers an adequate plan for the control of operations. Such a plan provides profit planning, sales forecasts, expense budgets, accounts receivable, cost standards and saving opportunities, and capital investing, together with the necessary controls and procedures to effectuate the plan.
  • Comparesperformance with operating plans and standards. Provides reports and interprets the results of operations to all levels of management. This includes the formulation of accounting policies, the preparation of financial statements and operating data, the coordination of systems and procedures, and special reports asrequired.
  • Forecasts short-range and long-range cash requirements and obligations, as a basis formaintainingadequate funds.
  • Assures protection for the assets of the business through internal control, internal auditing, and ensuring proper insurance coverage.
  • Monitors credit andcollectionapplications.
  • Provides other companydepartmentswith related information required by them to carry out their assigned responsibilities.
  • Establishes and implements a sound operational and organizational plan in direct support of the business plan.
  • Executes cash disbursements for payment of corporate expendituresin accordance withdisbursementpolicies.
  • Monitors inventory levels andadvisesmanagementregardingvariances to budget.
  • Analyze complex financial reports and records
  • Make recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves,assetsand expenditures
  • Review journal entries to ensure accuracy
  • Train,mentorand overseeaccounting staff
  • Perform variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations
  • Consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality at assigned work location.
  • Assistwith financial and tax audits
  • Document andmonitorinternal controls in support ofgenerally acceptedaccountingprinciples
  • Coordinate more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departments

Education and/or Experience:

Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Current Certified Public Accountant(CPA)license
  • Minimum of5years of accountingexperiencepreferably in manufacturing/production environment;OR,any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Preferred:
  • Experience NetSuite ERP system a plus
  • Public Accounting experience
  • Previousexperience in manufacturing/production

Personal Protective Equipment is required in production areas and may include, but is not limited to, safety glasses, hearing protection, and closed-toe shoes. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee may lift and/or move up to 20 pounds occasionally.

Work Environment: General office environment that is climate controlled. Will be required to visit production area occasionally and may be exposed to airborne contaminants, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Production area is not climate-controlled. The noise level may exceed permissible exposure limit and hearing protection may be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full-Time. Work Schedule: 9/80 Schedule: Monday through Friday (every other Friday off), 7:00AM - 5:00PM. May require overtime based on business needs.

Travel: Minimal travel is expected for this position.
