Description

A leading Healthcare Management company with 45+ locations and headquarters in Nassau County, New York, is seeking an energetic, detail-oriented, and self-directed Assistant Controller to support the organization's accounting and financial operations. The Assistant Controller will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting functions, financial reporting, month-end close processes, budgeting support, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.

This position will work closely with the SVP of Finance and Accounting to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial information while supporting strategic financial initiatives and organizational growth. Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Assist in managing all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash management, general ledger activities, and financial reporting.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports.
  • Analyze financial performance, identify variances from budget and forecasts, and provide recommendations to management.
  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and company policies.
  • Assist with payroll processing, employee compensation calculations, and benefits-related accounting activities.
  • Coordinate and support regulatory reporting requirements and external audits.
  • Research and resolve technical accounting issues and assist with implementation of accounting standards.
  • Support cash flow management, banking relationships, and treasury functions.
  • Assist in monitoring project profitability, operational metrics, and team utilization reporting.
  • Help optimize accounting systems and processes to improve efficiencies and reporting capabilities.
  • Support financial system administration, including QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, Expensify, and other financial applications.
  • Assist with tax filings, audits, insurance renewals, and other compliance-related activities.
  • Coordinates with and prepares reports and financial analyses for the CFO, SVP Finance and Accounting and Executive Leadership.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to accounting staff as assigned.
  • Participate in strategic financial planning and organizational initiatives.
  • Develop and document accounting procedures, workflows, and process improvements.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.


Education & Training:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Public Accounting and/or audit experience required
  • Advanced accounting and financial reporting knowledge required
  • Continuing professional education and training preferred
  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience in accounting/finance


Knowledge & Experience:
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
  • Healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Experience with monthly financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial controls.
  • Experience with multi-location organizations preferred


Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with proficiency in financial modeling and analysis.
  • Experience with accounting systems, including QuickBooks and related financial platforms.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
