(fully in-person, 5-days a week)Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYTiverton is seeking a proactive and resourceful Assistant Controller, Fund Operationswho can provide the highest quality financial strategy and accounting acumen for Tiverton, while also undertaking various other tasks required at a fast-growing company. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented problem solver with the desire to work in a dynamic environment.
This position will be an integral part of the Tiverton team and provide critical support to both the accounting department and the organization. The successful Assistant Controller, Fund Operations will be self-motivated and energized by working with a group of thoughtful, smart, and skilled colleagues. He or she will enjoy being a part of a young and hungry organization focused on becoming the pre-eminent investment firm in US food production.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES- Manage and assist with quarterly and yearly fund financial statements including the annual audit process
- Coordinate with and review the work of third-party fund administrators, including NAV calculations, capital activity, investor allocations, and financial reporting deliverables
- Help provide technical accounting and tax guidance related to fund structures and investment vehicles
- Lead coordination and review of annual tax filings and compliance in partnerships with external tax provider
- Assist with cash management, monitoring credit lines & covenants, and various other cash forecasting
- Support investor requests such as fund performance and special projects as they arise
- Monitor evolving SEC regulations and help with the implementation of new rules and disclosure requirements
- Develop and participate in process improvement projects and internal control implementation
- Support Fund Operations leadership on ad hoc projects including maintenance/adoption of new portfolio management system, launch of new investment vehicles, and various other items in a growing organization
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS- Bachelor's degree and Master's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or other related majors
- 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting, fund/investment accounting, or equivalent work, with a proven history of increasing job responsibility and supervision skills
- CPA strongly preferred
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, partnership accounting, SEC fund compliance, and investment vehicle tax structures
- Advanced proficiency in excel and experience using or implementing new portfolio management systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with auditors, tax providers, administrators, and investors
