  • Maintain and enhance internal controls and accounting policies for SOX compliance.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting staff while fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Perform other accounting and financial projects as assigned.

Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support the Controller and CFO in managing the company's accounting operations within a fast-paced commercial electrical construction environment. This leadership role supports financial reporting, assists with monthly close activities, financial controls, and partners closely with project management. The ideal candidate has construction accounting experience, a strong understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition, percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, job costing, and financial controls, along with the ability to work as part of a team to improve processes.

What you'll do

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Review job cost reporting, contract status, and work-in-progress (WIP) schedules to ensure accurate project financial reporting.
  • Partner with Project Managers to analyze project performance, budgets, costs, and profitability.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and SOX compliance procedures.
  • Coordinate on internal and external audits, providing supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment.
  • Perform other accounting and financial projects as assigned.


What you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA required (active or inactive).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive construction accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • ASC 606 revenue recognition
    • Job costing
    • Percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting
    • Work-in-progress (WIP) reporting
    • General ledger accounting and financial close
  • Experience with construction ERP systems such as Viewpoint Vista, CMiC, Sage 300 (Timberline), Foundation, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and SOX compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.


Additional Qualifications
  • Experience with AIA billing and contract administration.
  • Experience working in a SOX-compliant or publicly traded company environment.
  • Experience leading ERP implementations or accounting process automation initiatives.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
  • Experience in commercial electrical or specialty trade contracting.
