About the role
As an Assistant Control Room Operator, you will be responsible for the daily operation of the air pollution control (APC) systems and components, turbine generator and associated equipment, boiler feed pumps, condensate pumps, make-up pumps, dump condenser and associated equipment, turbine lube and control oil systems, electrical distribution systems, including breakers, transformers, disconnect switches, inverter, storage batteries, etc., waste water system, treated water system and cooling towers to assure that the facility meets it's operational, environmental, and safety commitments while operating in a safe and environmentally efficient manner.
Position Responsibilities:
• Assisting as needed in the daily operation of the Control Room operation of two 900 TPD boilers and one 62 MW steam turbine generator.
• Operation of fuel feed system including High Angle Conveyor, augers, and fuel feeders.
• Performs inspections, makes effective rounds, and takes appropriate action to maintain APC systems within prescribed limits.
• Performs daily routine inspections of assigned equipment and troubleshooting on equipment and reports all malfunctioning equipment through the issuance of work orders.
• Performs lockout and tag-out of equipment in support of maintenance activities, including confined space permits, hot-work permits, etc..
• Provide guidance Auxiliary, and Back Plant Operators to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
• Effectively monitor power plant operations systems and have strong working knowledge of boiler, turbine, and auxiliary equipment operations
• Manage critical events and prioritize tasks for completion at times during emergency, providing clear directions in operational, safety and environmental tasks.
• Respond to operational alarms, taking immediate corrective action.
• Demonstrate solid understanding of operational best practices, including the ability to problem solve and make sound decisions that supports Facility safety and operational goals.
Position Requirements & Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Must understand the principles of operation, function of air pollution control system, turbine-generator and associated equipment, balance of plant equipment, wastewater and water chemistry principles, facility electrical distribution and protection.
• Must have taken the municipal waste combustion course within a year upon hire.
• Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts.
• Must know, understand and utilize 3-way radio communication.
• Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English.
Physical Demands of the Role:
• Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
• Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
• Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
• Qualify to wear a full-face respirator
• Consistently work in various weather conditions
Shift:
• Rotating 12 hour shifts, days and nights.

Pay Transparency

The range below reflects Reworld's reasonable estimate of base pay for this role based on primary posting location. It is expected that most qualified candidates in this location will fall within the posting range. The final salary offered for this role will be determined based on factors including, but not limited to: experience, education, geographic location, skills and competencies, travel requirements and/or union contracts (if applicable). Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.
The pay range for the primary location of this position is: 33.22 - 44.18 USD per hour
