POSITION INFORMATION

The Placer County District Attorney's Office is accepting applications for Assistant Chief District Attorney Investigator to fill one (1) vacancy in the Roseville office.

DEFINITION

To assist the Chief District Attorney Investigator in managing and directing the activities of the Investigations Division within the District Attorney's Office; to coordinate activities within assigned programs, manage departmental employment background investigations, facilitate division training, and assist the Chief District Attorney Investigator with sensitive investigations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience and Training:

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:

Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in criminal investigation operations, two of which must be in a District Attorney's Office, and two years of supervisory responsibility.

Training:

Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice, business or public administration, or a related field.

Required License or Certificate:

  • May need to possess a valid driver's license as required by the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.
  • Possession of a current and valid Advanced certificate issued by the California Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission (P.O.S.T.). Completion of the California P.O.S.T. Management Certificate within 12 months after appointment.


Special Qualifications:

Must be 21 years of age by date of appointment.

  • Principles and practices of current law enforcement procedures, community-focused methods of criminal and civil investigations, administration, and law enforcement management.
  • Pertinent local, State, and Federal rules, regulations, and laws; court operations, and the operational rules and regulations of the District Attorney's Office.
  • Principles and practices of leadership, motivation, team building, and conflict resolution.
  • Principles and practices used in planning, organizing, and directing criminal, civil, and family support law and criminal investigations.
  • Techniques, methods, equipment, tools, and materials used in criminal investigations.
  • Interview and interrogation techniques.
  • Rules of evidence, arrest, and search-and-seizure laws.
  • Statistical methods and report writing.
  • Methods used to train criminal investigators.
  • Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment.
  • Principles and practices of policy development and implementation.
  • Principles and practices of organizational analysis and management.
  • Budgeting procedures and techniques.
  • Principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management.


Ability to:

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Hire Requirements

Candidates must complete the following requirements before their start date if an offer is extended:
  • DOJ Criminal Background Clearance: Successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check through the California Department of Justice.
  • Medical Evaluation: Pass a pre-employment physical, which may include drug screening and/or a psychological evaluation.
  • Oath of Office: Subscribe to the constitutional oath or affirmation as required for all public employees by the California Constitution.
  • Employment Eligibility Verification: Provide original documents that establish both identity and the legal right to work in the United States, as required by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
