Full Job Description
As an Assistant Branch Manager:

As part of the Branch Leadership team, this position in conjunction with the Branch Manager is accountable for the day-to-day operation for sales and service within the branch and is responsible for the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager. Provide leadership, direction and development to all employees modelling Meridian corporate values. Provide effective leadership by empowering performance, giving constructive one on one coaching, and building a team atmosphere through positive interactions. Improve the Member experience while ensuring a high standard of employee performance results, community involvement, sales and service quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for hiring, training, developmental plans, performance management, coaching, feedback and performance improvement plans.
  • Participate as a Member of the branch leadership team, supporting and promoting branch initiatives.
  • Develop strategies and employee ability to read, interpret and understand NET promoter in order to enhance the overall Member experience.
  • Lead all team Members with respect to Member satisfaction, ensuring a positive and consistent Member experience.
  • Effectively engage employees in the sales management process using training and tools to improve the quality of advice offered to Members.
  • Accountable to ensure completeness and accuracy for all files including credit, investments and estate portfolios.
  • In conjunction with the Branch Manager, responsible to participate in interviews and hiring decisions for all non-management positions.
  • Accountable to ensure the daily management of all cash within the branch, night deposit, ABM's, MSR's/CDU's balancing, and all other controls are in place and properly adhered to.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all Meridian products and services and their related features and benefits.
  • Follow audit, compliance, risk management, delinquency, fraud, robbery policies and procedures.
  • Attend and actively participate in Assistant Branch Manager Meetings, sharing best practices and ideas.
  • In conjunction with the Branch Manager, develop and implement branch strategies, goals, objectives, budgets, expense controls and overall branch efficiencies.
  • Lead branch activities aimed at portfolio, customer and new business development.
  • Contribute to the branch and delivery growth and profitability targets by ensuring employees are focusing their time and attention on the right activities.
  • Promote Meridian Credit Union in your community by participating and being involved in community activities or events while demonstrating the Company values.
  • Provide wealth management information and seminars within the community as assigned.


How you will succeed:

Experience & Education

  • Post-Secondary education in a business or related field or relevant working experience.
    IFIC, CSC, CFP may be a requirement.
    Previous experience in a relevant financial services environment including personal account management and in-depth knowledge of all investment and lending products.

Salary Range: CAD $68,800 - $103,200 annually

Compensation for this role is based on a combination of skills, experience, and internal equity. Candidates with stronger alignment to the role's requirements may be placed higher within the range.
