Description:

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, an academic teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, is seeking a permanent Gynecologic Pathologist to join the Division of Anatomic Pathology, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Molecular Diagnostics (LMMD), Precision Diagnostics and Therapeutics Program. The successful applicant must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor at the University of Toronto. The start date will be January 1, 2027, or as mutually agreed on.

We are seeking a physician who will foster excellence in Gynecologic pathology, education and research at the hospital. The qualified applicant shall hold a medical degree and relevant fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario. As a major obstetrics, neonatal, and cancer centre, the candidate will have clinical responsibilities primarily in the area of gynecologic pathology, but expertise and ability to cover a second specialty such as gastrointestinal or head and neck pathology would be an asset. Other duties include participating in on-call coverage, frozen sections and autopsy service. A fully accredited Anatomic Pathology residency program is in place and teaching of residents, fellows and medical students is expected. English is the primary language of work.

The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salary and benefits are in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation for laboratory physicians in the Province of Ontario ($418,000 per annum).

Members of the Division of Anatomic Pathology at Sunnybrook will participate in teaching, research and quality improvement activities. The Division enjoys close and dynamic interactions with the other Divisions of the Department including hematopathology, molecular, transfusion medicine, microbiology and biochemistry.
