ASNT Level III/Inspection Supervisor to administer and
maintain our nondestructive testing (NDT) program. This role supports Pennoni's nondestructive
testing and QA/QC inspection program and includes training, testing, and certifying NDT Technicians,
performing NDT, reviewing and writing NDT procedures and supervision of inspection personnel to help
ensure compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
Job Responsibilities:
The ASNT Level III/Inspection Supervisor will administer and maintain our nondestructive testing
program and provide comprehensive leadership and oversight for QA inspection staff supporting DOT
and commercial client projects at offsite fabrication facilities and project job sites. This includes
maintaining and administrating our NDT program; training, testing and certifying NDT technicians;
reviewing and writing NDT procedures; providing inspectors with technical guidance; performing shop
audits; and supporting assignments when there are scheduling conflicts. The role also involves
conducting site visits to monitor performance and progress, as well as supporting the onboarding,
training, and development of inspection personnel.
The position serves as a key technical resource, providing guidance on nondestructive testing, welding
procedures, and fabrication/welding related issues. The ASNT Level III/Inspection Supervisor will
participate in prefabrication meetings, contribute to QA/QC planning and procedures, and mentor
inspection staff to promote consistency and technical excellence across projects.
Additionally, the ASNT Level III/ Inspection Supervisor will act as a liaison between Pennoni, clients,
and fabrication facilities, ensuring clear communication. The role includes helping coordinate responses
to client comments, audits, and technical inquiries to maintain strong client relationships and project
alignment.
From a program administration perspective, the ASNT Level III/Inspection Supervisor will support
staffing and resource planning efforts, confirm the accuracy and compliance of project documentation,
and maintain internal quality control records to ensure consistent execution across assignments.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma and a minimum of eight years of nondestructive
testing, welding, and fabrication related experience, including one to three years in a supervisory
capacity, with demonstrated experience maintaining and administrating an NDT program. The role
requires key industry certifications, including ASNT Level III certifications (UT, MT, RT, PT), AWS
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector, and OSHA 10 safety training.
The candidate should demonstrate strong technical knowledge of nondestructive testing ASNT
requirements, weld specifications, and related codes such as AASHTO/AWS D1.5 and D1.1 welding
codes, the New York State Steel Construction Manual (NYSSCM), along with practical experience in
structural steel fabrication and inspection. In addition to technical expertise, the position requires
proven leadership and team management abilities, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and
effective verbal and written communication. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe applications is
also essential.
This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule in a hybrid environment consisting of both
field assignments and home office responsibilities, with approximately 50% travel to fabrication
facilities. Travel is driven by NDT Technician geographic location, fabrication schedules, and project
demands. Reimbursements for travel-related expenses will generally follow GSA guidelines.
