Full Job Description
This role focuses on building software, automation tools, and workflows that improve ASIC development processes. The position supports collaboration across engineering teams while enabling continuous learning and innovation.

How you will make an impact:
  • Develop and maintain software using Java, Rust, Python, and Make on Linux, following established methodologies and practices for high-quality code.
  • Create and maintain command-line applications and web-based services that enable ASIC development workflows.
  • Write bash scripts to automate tasks and improve automation processes.
  • Resolve customer issues, bugs, and feature requests in existing applications while contributing to new application development.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional ASIC development teams to identify and implement improvements to applications.
  • Utilize Git for source code management and collaborate through Bitbucket.
  • Develop testing frameworks for software development in partnership with experienced engineers.


The must haves:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering,
  • Experience: Previous internship, co-op, or applied project experience relevant to the role.
  • Proficiency in Java and Python programming and object-oriented design principles.
  • Strong expertise in Linux operating systems and bash scripting.
  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins for continuous integration and deployment.
  • Familiarity with Bash, TCL, and Make.
  • Solid understanding of Digital Circuit Development.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Pay Range

  • The annual pay range for this position is $70,700 - $112,900


Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
