LOCATION:

Candidates must reside within the South Region, which includes Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Florida, Southern Illinois, Western Tennessee, and the Greater St. Louis area. Convenient access to a major commercial airport is required, as this role involves frequent travel throughout the region.

THE ROLE:
The Area Vice President of Sales will be responsible for the regional field sales activities of Biodesix products within their Area. Experience with both direct selling to physicians but also strategic selling to large practices and practice aggregators, the successful candidate will have exhibited both strong operational capabilities as well as the ability to rapidly adapt tactics in today's changing health care environment. The candidate will also be able to rapidly absorb new clinical data into the selling environment and be equally at home in front of leading clinical experts as well as business managers. The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to attract, coach, and retain talented personnel, yielding high-performance results while aggressively managing costs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Key Responsibilities:
  • Structure detailed strategic plans for gaining and retaining new and existing clients
  • Manage regional product sales team - to ensure that all sales goals are met to drive successful attainment of company revenue and customer service goals and objectives
  • Partner with strategic marketing, medical affairs, and reimbursement to ensure maximum account penetration
  • Continually analyze competitive landscape and environment to determine trends and provide customer feedback to Vice President of Sales
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive business plan for each product by territory that will be inclusive of personnel, budgets, travel, training, territory management, goal setting, etc.
  • Work effectively with individuals across multiple departments throughout Biodesix
  • Embrace, embody and represent the Biodesix company culture at all times to external and internal constituents
  • All other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
  • Strong understanding of life sciences and molecular diagnostics for oncology and the evolving competitive landscape
  • Excellent knowledge of oncology, hematology, chemotherapeutics and targeted agents
  • Ability to maintain an outstanding level of market, customer, distribution and product knowledge necessary to accomplish sales and marketing objectives
  • Ability to build/transform a sales team
  • Outstanding strategic sales account planning skills
  • Superior listening and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to provide an integrated molecular diagnostic solution using Biodesix products to customers
  • Comfortable selling at the executive level (CEO, COO, CFO)
  • Keen understanding of the payor and reimbursement environment in the oncology and diagnostic space
  • Excellent negotiation and customer service skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a very high level of confidentiality
  • Possess a very positive attitude and an understanding of the dynamics involved with organizational growth and change
  • Impeccable oral and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Effective and regular cross-functional communication and cooperation
  • Effective and regular utilization and optimization of Salesforce.com and other sales metrics

  • B.S. in life science, biology, business or marketing - MBA preferred
  • 10- 15 years of direct sales management experience in a life sciences and/or molecular diagnostic setting with a history or proven past performance that has met and exceeded expectations.
  • Demonstrated measurable revenue generation at either a diagnostic, pharmaceutical or relevant biotechnology company.
