Full Job Description

This Maintenance Group Leader role exists to effectively manage all aspects of the site’s daily maintenance activities and to provide resources for turn around activities.  This role reports directly to the Michigan Hub maintenance & reliability leader. 

The maintenance group leader provides leadership for the maintenance “do-work” team and all the contractors supporting maintenance and turnarounds for the site.  The total number of resources which report up to the maintenance leader is approximately 25.  

The successful candidate will be part of a diverse maintenance team including maintenance crafts, maintenance engineers, reliability engineers, plant personnel and other maintenance group leaders.  This team is focused on improving the reliability of the manufacturing plants while delivering it at world class cost performance.

Core Role Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Admin leader for approximately 30 employees (approving time, goals, performance management, coaching, etc.)
  • Responsible for Contract Management and administration for site contract services
  • EH&S performance of the maintenance “do-work” team
  • Active contributor in Midland Maintenance Team Budget (facilitate budget team, track spending, set recharge rates, etc.)
  • Partnering with each of the operations plants to ensure accurate maintenance costs are pushed to the plants and forecasting is accurate
  • Instill and maintain an “owner’s mindset” across the team
  • Craft Training Program Management
  • Own continuous improvement activities for the field services (E2W initiatives, contract staffing levels, metric identification and tracking

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Occasional off-hour and weekend support is required 
  • Staff on-call responsibility is a requirement of this role
  • Current, valid US driver's license.
  • Minimal travel outside Michigan Operations may be required.
  • Willing to adhere to all safety standards, including the smoke free and drug-free workplace policy
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must have strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills - inspire others and lead them through influence.
  • A self-starter who can identify, prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks.
  • Able to work within an empowered team environment.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Required Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or engineer technology
  • 5+ years of chemical plant manufacturing experience
  • Maintenance experience preferred
  • People leadership experience preferred
