Project Overview:

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. We are partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline. Bechtel Manufacturing & Technology, Inc. offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the semiconductor manufacturing, electric vehicle, and data center markets. Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, the M&T global business unit also includes colleagues working in Arizona, Ohio, Texas, India, and additional project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead a team to develop and manage a safety and health program for a complex project, ensuring safety and health requirements are integrated in planning, design, construction, and operations. You will provide technical guidance to project leads, evaluate trends, and conduct assessments and inspections. Your team will help achieve continuous improvement in project safety. #LI-AE2

Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervises a component of a safety program, inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
  • Supervises assigned safety personnel and provides guidance on their work activities.
  • Provides technical support within ESH teams and to Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Startup, Operations, Legal, Contracts, Procurement, Management, and other functions regarding ESH program execution.
  • Confirms that safety and health requirements are integrated in planning documents, design criteria, construction and commissioning plans, schedules, and subcontract documents.
  • Prepares, or helps prepare, Safety and Health Management Plans and awareness and training programs in compliance with Bechtel standards, the ESH Management System, and contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Emphasizes and uses risk assessment, data analysis, and Bechtel's ESH Management System to help track and achieve continual improvement.
  • Prepares technical and regulatory reports, researches issues to support ESH program execution, evaluates data, and reports performance trends.
  • Participates in ESH emergency response planning and confirms investigation and resolution of safety and health incidents.
  • Builds and maintains working relationships with stakeholders and addresses their issues.
  • Participates in and leads meetings with customers, team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety and health requirements.
  • Conducts assessments and inspections to monitor ESH compliance with contractual commitments, laws and regulations, and Bechtel requirements.
  • Provides guidance on assessment and monitoring methods, mitigation measures and controls, contractual commitments, laws and regulations, and Bechtel requirements.
  • Coordinates with ESH Management regarding significant issues and support.


Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
