Full Job Description
An Area Director of Sales supportsAverill Hospitality Missoula properties by managing, coordinating, andexecuting items related to day-to-day sales operations and strategic planning.Provide oversight and leadership to sales and reservations team members. Managesales territory as assigned. Lead the development and execution of strategicSales plans and initiatives to maximize profitability for the Missoulaproperties and achieve budget, revenue, and market share targets. Specifically,you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the higheststandards:

Responsibilities
  • Manageteam building and recognition, troubleshooting, training, mentoring, andrelated tasks to develop a strong sales team
  • Createand follow annual sales plan for territory managed and assist sales managers indeveloping their annual plans, adapting, and modifying them as needed. Developtarget lists and action plans for customer acquisition and client accountmanagement and oversee the implementation of these plans.
  • Communicatewith other departments to facilitate services agreed upon with clients and actas a resource for information and assistance to other departments within thecompany.
  • Leadthe evaluation, selection, and onboarding of new team members in thedepartment.
  • Providerevenue projections for sales and participate in the annual budget process.
  • Providedirect leadership and support to the area sales team members.
  • Regularlymeet individually with each Sales Manager to review sales activities andopportunities, develop and monitor the success of strategies and tactics, andassist with goal fulfillment as needed.
  • Utilizereports from hotel Sales systems to assist sales managers in gaugingperformance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Organizeand lead a group sales meeting on a regular basis
  • Evaluateand make recommendations on requested contract language and SOP exceptions tobe approved by the Regional Director of Operations and/or property's GeneralManagers.
  • Achievesales goals as established by Regional Director of Operations and GeneralManagers
  • Prospect,cultivate leads and contract business to achieve sales goals as established bythe Regional Director of Operations
  • Leadsite inspections and entertain qualified potential clients.
  • Performlocal sales calls, client outreach, and telephone sales to potential new andexisting clients regularly, travel to key and emerging markets for sales callsto promote Averill Hospitality properties on an occasional basis (1-3times/year).
  • Participatein networking organizations and activities to grow leads.
  • Documentsales efforts and maintenance of client accounts in property Sales systems
  • Evaluatebusiness opportunities to determine if favorable and profitable to the company.
  • Workwith the individual property General Managers to ensure group sales efforts arealigned with overall property goals and modify as needed.

Whatwe Expect
  • Excellent verbal communication skills both in-person and on the telephone, and excellent written communication skills with attention to proper spelling, grammar, and usage
  • Experience and proven ability to drive the sales process from start to finish and to cultivate these skills in others.
  • Strong listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Understanding of how to position products against competitors, and knowledge of how to develop client-focused, differentiated, and achievable solutions.
  • Proven ability to mentor others, train on processes, and create a culture of accountability.
  • Must possess a high regard for customer service and employee relations and the ability to deal with the public and staff tactfully and diplomatically.
  • Ability to interpret data, identify trends, and create strategic plans based on findings.
  • A broad understanding of the tourism industry and the day-to-day operations of a hotel/resort
  • Understanding of key drivers of tourism to Missoula.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of classified information.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A commitment to ongoing continued professional development.
  • Minimum3 years' experience in resort or hotel sales where there was significant timespent establishing rapport with leads, overcoming sales objections, and closingsales
  • Preferencefor a 4-year degree in hospitality, business management, communications, orrelated field
