Waggonner & Ball, a Moffatt & Nichol Studio, is actively seeking a Senior Architect with historic preservation experience in our New Orleans office. As the successful new hire, you will be highly motivated, creative, and a team-oriented individual. You will lead the development of
design criteria and direction for projects across a broad range of project types and scales with historic preservation experience. You will lead teams through project research and design as well as manage internal staff development. You will cultivate and maintain client relationships and lead pursuit of new business opportunities and markets. - Leads the development of design criteria for clients/projects
- Manages creative design direction during all phases of projects
- Interfaces with clients on design issues and aligns architectural solutions with client priorities
- Oversees multiple building planning and design efforts
- Leads team collaboration to advance design concepts
- Develops and maintains relationships with other disciplines such as Civil, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical and other consultants to support project delivery
- Guides and monitors design activities on studio projects; conducts technical and design reviews
- Leads design analysis and compilation of specifications for basic to complex architectural assignments
- Leads construction administration of historic renovation projects
- Works closely with project directors with respect to budget and schedule constraints
- Ensures knowledge transfer between studio projects and teams
- Performs other duties as requested by leadership
Marketing / Business Development:- Identifies new business opportunities while developing current client relationships. Listens for and seeks out new projects which may exist or are being formulated
- Participates in marketing and business development opportunities
- Provides oversight to marketing staff in the development of standard materials that describe the design portfolio, systems, and processes
Staff Development:- Acts as mentor by coaching and motivating design teams and individuals; fostering an environment of mutual respect and trust among members of the group as it grows and develops
- Fosters collaboration among team members and within the office
- Prepares and delivers design staff evaluations; responsible for performance development, compensation decision-making and workload allocation processes of department
- Shares historic preservation knowledge and detailed solutions with design teams
- Participates in appropriate professional and client-oriented organizations, maintains active memberships and attends conferences and activities

Qualifications:- Professional Architecture Degree; Master's preferred
- 15 to 20 years of architecture and design experience
- Architecture License
- Proven experience with successful historic preservation projects
- Commitment to design excellence
- Strong knowledge of design, trends, construction methodology, material application, and sustainable practices
- Interest in working at all scales of design and planning from regional systems to details
- Mastery in AutoCAD and Revit
- Proficiency in Rhino and Adobe CC Suite
- Proficiency in rendering software integrated with Revit such as Enscape desired
- Highly effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences and stakeholders
- All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171
Physical Requirements:Work is generally performed in an office or client office setting. Ability to use standard office equipment is required. Light or occasional travel will be required mostly to local client sites.
