Job Description

The Los Angeles, CA office has an opening for an Architect/Designer for our Civic Architecture studio. The Architect/Designer role involves both client-facing and team-facing responsibilities and has tremendous growth potential.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Assists in the planning, organization, and directing of the work throughout the life cycle of the project.
  • Engages in the development of a design through sketches, physical models, electronic models, diagrams, massing studies, and other visual formats.
  • Utilizes BIM technologies in development of three-dimensional models of buildings and their components.
  • Participates in design critiques and pin-ups.
  • Interprets and applies building codes and requirements of other regulatory agencies.
  • Prepares and revises documentation in various architectural phases including site plans, floor plans, building elevations, building sections and details.
  • Participates in bidding and negotiation phase and prepare addenda.
  • Reviews shop drawings and submittals, responds to RFIs, prepares site observation reports and other contract administration tasks.
  • Leads project coordination and meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner, contractor, and sub-contractors.
  • Participates in client project requirement meetings and value analysis and basic cost estimating.
  • Assists in the preparation of the project specifications. Coordination of specs with construction documents.
  • Participates in constructability review.
  • Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects.
  • Prepares and ensures that work conforms to project budget, schedule, and overall work planning.


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience with multiple project sizes, with a concentration in large and complex projects;
  • Skilled in architecture and detailing as well as proficient in construction administrative processes;
  • Proven effectiveness coordinating with contractors, architectural teams, and consultants;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Requires understanding of project software: Revit, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.
  • Successful at leading and organizing a team of multiple disciplines and consultants;
  • Confident with public speaking and networking;
  • Excellent writing skills;
  • Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills;
  • Detail oriented and organized with proven experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Available for occasional travel within the US.

Education and Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience preferably in complex civic projects.
  • Degree in architecture from an accredited university.
  • Architectural license in California or ability to attain licensure within one year is preferred.
  • DBIA certification is preferred.
  • Must have valid driver's license and clean MVR.
