Apex is hiring a
Project Scientist/Arborist to be based in Seattle, WA. Your Responsibilities as a Project Scientist/Arborist:- Conduct tree and vegetation surveys, develop and implement vegetation protection plans, conduct hazard tree assessments
- Provide environmental compliance inspection and oversight on construction projects in the Puget Sound Region
- Field collection of environmental samples (air, water, stormwater, wastewater, soil)
- Routine regulatory reporting related to stormwater, wastewater, solid/hazardous waste, and air permit compliance
- Prepare environmental management plans related to stormwater pollution prevention and spill prevention
- Problem solving through selection and implementation of pollution prevention Best Management Practices for discharge permit compliance
- Assist with the evaluation and permitting of environmental projects
- Presentation of environmental topics to employees, clients, and contractors
- Travel to project sites within Washington and Oregon required
- Represent Apex in a safe and professional manner both internally and externally
What we're looking for:- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Geology or related field
- CESCL certification required (must be maintained during employment)
- ISA Certified Arborist® required (must be maintained during employment)
- TRAQ certification preferred
- Demonstrated experience in arboriculture, tree care, or urban forestry
- Demonstrates sound arboricultural judgment in assessments and recommendations
- Experience collecting field samples of soil, groundwater, surface water, stormwater, wastewater, and air using standard environmental protocols
- Experience preparing regulatory reports and permit-related documentation
